‎...as Ms. Comfort Joshua receives fully furnished Compassionate Home, ₦500,000 business grant 

‎The Chairman of Uyo Local Government Area, Dr Uwemedimo Udo, has handed over a brand-new fully furnished two-bedroom Compassionate Home and a ₦500,000 business grant to Ms. Comfort Joshua of Uyo Oku Community, in a life-changing intervention aimed at restoring hope to vulnerable residents.

‎The presentation, witnessed by government officials, traditional rulers, political stakeholders, including the wife of the Deputy Political Leader, Mrs Joyful Monday and residents, formed part of the Council's Compassionate Home initiative, a grassroots humanitarian programme inspired by His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno's ARISE Agenda.

‎In his remarks, Dr Udo said the beneficiary was identified during an assessment carried out by his administration to locate vulnerable persons across the local government deserving of government support.

‎"Our development has no boundaries. Wherever there is a need for development in Uyo, we will take development there," the Chairman said, adding that the initiative was not meant for public showmanship but to improve lives and restore dignity to vulnerable families. He also announced a ₦500,000 business support grant to enable the beneficiary become financially self-reliant.

‎The Chairman commended Governor Umo Eno for introducing humanitarian programmes that have inspired similar interventions at the grassroots and assured residents that he would follow up on the already-awarded Udoette Road project to ensure its completion.

‎Special Assistant to the Governor on Humanitarian Services, Prince NsikanAbasi Umoekpo, and the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Dr Anieti Udofia, commended Dr Udo for complementing Governor Umo Eno's ARISE Agenda through grassroots humanitarian interventions. They described the Compassionate Home initiative as a life-changing programme and prayed for God's grace to sustain the Chairman's commitment to serving the people.

‎Wife of the Chairman, Mrs Akaninyene Uwemedimo, and the Council's Supervisor for Humanitarian Affairs, Ms Edoama Isaiah, lauded the beneficiary's resilience and dedication to the activities of the Uyo Local Government Women, describing the new home as a reward for commitment and a demonstration of the administration's compassion for vulnerable residents.

‎Member representing Uruan State Constituency in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Hon. Itoro Etim, who recalled that she and Ms. Comfort Joshua were classmates at Cornelia Connelly College, Uyo, thanked the Chairman for transforming the life of her former schoolmate. Responding, an emotional Ms. Joshua said words could not adequately express her gratitude, declaring that "my thank you is not enough" for what the Chairman had done for her family.

‎The Paramount Ruler of Uyo, Edidem Sylvanus Okon, JP, former Ward Councillor, Hon. Churchill Amos and youth leaders commended the Chairman for extending the life-changing intervention to Uyo Oku Community and offered prayers for God's continued protection, wisdom and strength upon him.

‎Earlier, the Councillor representing Ward 13, Hon. Ekerete Okon, welcomed the Chairman and his entourage, while the ceremony ended with the dedication of the new home by the Superintendent of Qua Iboe Church, Oku Superintendency, Rev. Dr Iniobong Udoh.
