Uyo Local Government Area, in collaboration with the Akwa Ibom State Primary Health Care Development Agency, flagged off the Supplemental Immunisation Campaign, The Big Catch-up, at the Primary Health Care Centre, Mbiabong Anyanya.
The initiative is designed to reach unimmunised and missed children aged 0–59 months, strengthening routine immunisation coverage across the local government.
Speaking during the flag-off, the Wife of the Chairman of Uyo Local Government, Mrs. Akaninyene Uwemedimo, urged mothers and caregivers to take advantage of the campaign by ensuring their children receive the recommended vaccines.
She emphasised that timely immunisation remains one of the most effective ways to protect children from preventable diseases and promote a healthier future for the community.
